Pineau des Charentes Michel Forgeron is the result of a blend of several harvests that have aged between 3 and 7 years for the Pineau Blanc and Pineau Rouge; 10 to 15 years for the Vieux Pineau Blanc.

The white Pineau is aged in oak barrels for at least 3 years and is made of Ugni-blanc, Montils and Colombard. This delicious blend brings notes of peach, acacia honey and nougat.

The red Pineau is aged for 2 to 4 years in oak barrels, which are continuously topped up (ouillage) to minimise oxidation. It is made exclusively of Merlot grapes bringing delicious notes of blackcurrant and red fruits.

Pineau is made around mid-September during the harvest when there is still an abundance of freshly pressed grape juice to mix with young Cognac.

The addition of Cognac brandy to the grape juice prevents fermentation so Pineau des Charentes is neither a COOKED WINE (Banyuls), nor a FORTIFIED WINE (Port), its sweetness is naturally brought by the grape juice. No sulphur is added to Michel Forgeron's Pineau des Charentes.
